Robert Eugene Dunton, 86, of Spearfish, SD, passed away September 28, 2011 at Ft. Meade VA Hospice Unit.

Robert was born on March 19, 1925, to Lloyd and Hazel Dunton, in Elmwood, Illinois. He served in the United States Army in 1944-45 in Tokyo, Japan. After the war, Robert worked for the Dept. of Agriculture for the state of Illinois for ten years. He also farmed for over forty years in and around Lewistown, IL. Robert enjoyed traveling and after retirement, he traveled all over the country with his wife, Doris. He loved meeting new people at the many campgrounds they visited over a period of 25 years.

Robert is survived by his wife, Doris. This November 7th they would be celebrating their 69th anniversary. Also surviving are his children, Bob of Pekin, IL; Shirley of Denver, CO; Linda of Spearfish; James of Brighton, Co; Roger of Hebron, IL; and one brother, Raymond of Peoria, IL.

Robert was a loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger and Richard; and sister, Betty.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 3, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Burial with full military honors will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
