Obituary

Robert Carl 82, of Spearfish, passed away on June 13, 2012 at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.

Robert was born on December 12, 1929 in Miller, SD to Dan and Ella (Synder) Carl. He married Naoma Bennett in Pipe Stone on April 13, 1955. Robert and Naoma lived in the Miller area until moving to Lead, SD in 1957.
After several years living in Lead, they settled in Spearfish where they raised their family.

Robert was employed as an underground miner by Homestake Gold Mine for over 35 years until his retirement in 1995. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, especially growing roses at his home in Spearfish.

Survivors include one son, Chuck Carl and four daughters, Leslie (Ed) Sewell, Denise (David) Irwin, Kim (Dominic) Larive all of Spearfish, and Kathy (Steve) Smith of Rapid City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naoma Carl, his parents, six sisters, and one brother.

Memorial services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 19, 20102 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. A memorial has been established in his name.
