Robert "Emmett" Brislawn, 75 of Oshoto, Wyoming died June 1, 2010 at Ft. Meade V.A. Medical Center.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 7, 2010, at Pine Grove Cemetery near Oshoto, Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established, condolences may be sent to 2740 D Road, Moorcroft, Wyoming.
Emmett was born September 11, 1932 in the homestead shack on Cayuse Ranch to Bob and Genevieve (Irvin) Brislawn, the oldest of five children including, Dipper, Neil, Colleen and Shane. He was born with a rope in his hand and riding before he could walk. He cowboyed and did lots of different jobs on various ranches, one was the Four Sixs in Texas and pumped an oil well on the D Ranch north of the family ranch. Emmett served his country during Korean War. His father and him founded the Spanish Mustang Registry. Horses and cattle has been his life long passion, he was a true cowboy and stockman. He married Gioja Webster on November 17th 1961, to this union two daughters were born, Josie and Aileen and one son Bige.
Emmett took over the family ranch raising and preserving the Spanish Mustang. He was a true cowboy and stockman and believed in the code of the west, he was a tough guy on the outside but was a kind friend, anyone who needed help he would be there for them. He was always honest and believed in being true to yourself. He always loved the beauty of God's earth, and he taught us to love and nurture people and all life. He said the Spanish Mustang will teach you about God's patience and truth and if you have a good heart or not.
He is survived by his wife Gioja Brislawn; daughters Josie Brislawn, Aileen (Eddie) Glonek and son Bige Brislawn; two brothers Neil UiBreaslain and Shane Brislawn, sister Mabel "Dipper" Brunson, sister-in-law Colleen Holbrook (wife of the late Bob Holbrook); many nieces and nephews and granddaughter Laura Eloise Glonek.
