Obituary

Robert (Bob) L. Bey Sr. 78, of Deadwood, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Fort Meade Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was already in the arms of Angels (nurses) at the VA before he passed.

Robert was born March 4, 1933 in Rapid City to Henry and Mabel (Saxton) Bey.

Robert married Shirley Ruth on July 29, 1961 in Deadwood. Robert worked for Barber Transportation for many years before being employed by Automatic Vendors until his retirement.

Robert served in the US Navy from June 27, 1951 to June 24, 1955. He served in the Korean War and was honored with many medals.
Robert was a wonderful husband and father. He shared his love of racing and gardening with his family. He also coached baseball and was a Boy Scout leader for many years.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Bey, two daughters, Sharie (Robert) Friedrichsen, Mary (Chris) Guimond; two sons John (Jenny Brand) Bey, Robert Bey, Jr., and two sisters Joan (Kenneth) Swanson and Marilyn Ferber, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one son Tim, and one brother Raymond.

A private family interment will be scheduled at a later date.

A memorial has been established for the Fort Meade Community Living Center.
