We regret to announce the passing our beloved Querida Rae Brunson/Petersen on December 18th 2010 at Northwest Hospital in Seattle Washington.
Rida fought a long battle with lung cancer and beat the odds by getting the cancer in remission. But the damage had been done and took it's toll after many surgeries.
Rida was born Querida Rae Copas on November 1, 1941 to Wilma & Winfield Scott Copas (Billie & Scotty) in Lead South Dakota. She graduated from Lead High School in 1959 and attended Black Hills Beauty College where she showed a hidden talent for dress designing. On December 6th that year she married Roger Brunson and soon the young couple moved to Sundance Wyoming to start a family.
Rida worked at the Fish Hatchery, Sundance Hospital, and retired from Tri-County Electric where she worked with some of the first computer systems ever invented. She enjoyed her life in the Black Hills and was never afraid to head out into the woods looking for Elk and Deer. Or bundle up in the dead of winter to take the family out snowmobiling. Bowling and horseback riding were also a favorite weekend pastimes. Later in life she took up golfing and playing the lotto, she also produced many beautiful cross-stitch pieces. She especially enjoyed her time spent with family and friends whatever the occasion.
Rida was preceded in death by her parents Scotty and Wilma, and husband Roger and survived by husband Larry Petersen, brothers Dennis Copas, Wayne Copas and sister Deanna Bowman, children Richard Brunson and Rhonda Busboom, grandchildren Brianna Brunson, Lexi, Gregory and Jonathan Busboom, great granddaughter Naya Brunson.
Rida was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great -grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who's life she touched.
At Ridas request she was cremated in Seattle. Services will be held January 8th 2011 at 11:11am at the United Methodist Church in Sundance Wyoming.
Rida carried this card in her wallet.
Cancer is so limited
It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit…..(author unknown)
