Richard "Dick" Johnson 62, of Spearfish, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Dick was born to Danny and Elta Johnson in Huron, SD on February 21, 1957.  He grew-up in a home with six other siblings.  The love from this up-bringing came out in all of them, and Dick brought that to his own family.  He took great pride in his business, The Spearfish Butcher shop; owning and running it for the past 15 years.  Working hard was just who Dick was; whether it was running the shop, remodeling, or making improvements on his home.

Dick loved his wife and their three children, spouses, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, as well as, all of their family members and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycle, but most of all spending time with family and friends.  He could not get enough of his grandchildren and loved having them around.  The door was always open, with good eats and a cold drink.  Dick will be remembered for the great character he was.  His deep booming voice, big laugh, colorful language, and strong work ethic; but most of all for the joy and love he shared with everyone.  His heart was as big as he was.

Preceding Dick in death is his father, Danny Johnson; both maternal and paternal grandparents; niece, Darcy Johnson and numerous aunts, uncles and friends.  He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Sarah Netterberg (Craig Smith), Adrian (Jennifer) Netterberg and Rose Kellem; his grandchildren, Ethan, Eric, Elsie, Eli, Graham, Dalton and River; his great-granddaughter, Aurora; mother, Elta Johnson; siblings, Peggy (John) Cyphert, David (Joannie) Johnson, Deb (Carl) Rittenbach, Kenny (Barb) Johnson, Kathy (Bob) Reiswig and Penny Johnson (Joe Lanner); 22 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Vigil service will be at 5:00pm on Wednesday, December 18 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Spearfish.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at the church.  Rite of Committal will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.  Reception for those who would like to join the family will take place at the Back Porch in Spearfish.
