Richard Henry Henriksen passed away into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 30, 2012. He was surrounded by his six children and his beloved wife. Rick was born July 25 1929, in Chicago Illinois to Fred and Elvira (Carlson) Henriksen.
He was a child of the depression and learned early on with the guidance of his beloved Grampa Carlson, how to make do through hard times. Rick grew up in the Chicago school system and became an excellent wrestler, garnering two city heavyweight championships as a junior and a senior. After high school, Rick followed the Pro wrestling circuit, performing as the nefarious villian "Hurricane Henry".
On December 2 1950, he married Doris Fagerstrand. They later divorced. To this union six children were born, Sue (Steve) Goochey of Burwell Ne, Karen (Pat) Tschacher of Dickinson N.D, Bob (Cindy) Henriksen of Gillette Wy. Robin Essert of Spearfish S.D., Lisa (Dean) Engelmann of Billings Mt, and David Henriksen of Hulett Wy. On October 24 1993, Rick married Willa Walker and remained with her until his passing. Rick was a great craftsman, and built many things with his hands during his lifetime. He worked as a carpenter for most of his working years, and was also very handy with many other mediums. As an avid fisherman he taught himself how to tie flies, make jigs, and many other crafty items. In 1971 Rick purchased the old Neville place northwest of Alva, fulfilling a lifelong dream he had to own a ranch. He was a good horseman and loved the country life. Later in life Rick and Willa were known for many kind and generous acts, and developed many close friendships with the good people of Sundance. He loved little kids and would help any of them any way he could.
Rick is survived by his wife of 21 years, Willa, his six children, two grandchildren, Jennifer Tschacher of Portland Ore, Jake Essert and his fiance Cyndi and many special friends . He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred in 1984, and Elvira in 1990, Gramps Carlson in 1960 and his brother Bob in 2009.
Services were held Sunday September 2, at 4:00 at The Church of Christ in Sundance, with Chris Livingston officiating.
