Richard E. Hancock, 72, of Spearfish, SD passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, October 14, 2016 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. A memorial has been established.

Richard was born in Deadwood, SD on September 6, 1944, to Lourine and Eric Hancock. He served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He worked for Homestake for 32 years and was an active member in the Union which he held the Office of Treasurer, Finance Secretary and Trustee. He also would play Santa at the Moose and Elks Lodge during the Christmas Season.

In 1990, he married Joan and remained married until his passing, with 26 wonderful years of their lives together.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lourine and Eric Hancock. He is survived by his wife Joan, his daughter, Kathleen, his son, Richard, a brother, Larry; step-children, Debbie, David, Mark and grand children, Eric, Richard, Bo, Easton, Killian, Gabrella and Leanna.

Richard was loved and will be missed greatly.
