IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard A.
Frerichs
February 20, 1963 – January 26, 2019
Richard "Rick" Arlen Frerichs, 55, from Lead, SD passed away in his home on January 26, 2019.
Rick was born in Beatrice, NE on February 20, 1963, where he lived until he enlisted in the United States Army. He was proud to have served his country as a tank operator and was stationed overseas where he learned to speak German and enjoyed giving people an earful of German whenever he had the chance. After being honorably discharged he returned to Nebraska to be with his family. He moved to South Dakota with his brother Jeffrey and immediately fell in love with the Black Hills and would make this his forever home. He worked for Lawrence County as a foreman and recently received a Certificate of Recognition for 25 years of service. Rick met the love of his life Tammy Williamson and the two were married in August of 1999. Rick found another love in being a stepfather and eventually being a grandpa.
Rick loved riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing and spending time with his good friends Timmy and Mike. Rick loved hanging out with his children and grandchildren and could be seen every fourth of July setting off the fireworks for all the kids to enjoy. Rick was an amazing cook, and let it be known, he loved cooking for everyone. He could always be found with a smile on his face and mischievous twinkle in his eyes.
Rick is survived by his wife, Tammy Frerichs; children, Samara Williamson (Dave), Karia Ward (Daryl), Brandon Harrison and Ryan Harrison; grandchildren, Blave, Kamryn, Cobe, Burke, Jordan, Kayden, Kaylee, Carter and Allie Rose; sisters, Lisa M. Mullins-Frerichs (Jack), and Carla Bowman (Lemmy) and many nieces and nephews.
Rick is preceded in death by his father, Arlen Frerichs; mother, Judith M. Stipe and brother, Jeffrey Frerichs.
Richard wished to be cremated and have a celebration of life. The celebration of life will be held at the VFW in Deadwood, SD on Saturday February 9, 2019 at 1pm. All of his many friends are invited to celebrate his life with his family and friends.
