Richard 'Dick' Edwards, age 77 of Spearfish, SD, passed away March 18, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ, after a long struggle with heart disease.  Dick was born in Chicago, IL, on February 18, 1948, to James and Wyvonee Edwards.  He graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL and was active in his fraternity, Theta Xi.  Dick was also very proud of his service in the US Army as a Captain and membership in the Masonic Lodge.  Dick married his wife, Linda 'Poopsie' Edwards, on December 18, 1971, in Cuba, IL. They had 2 children, daughter, Chrissi Gilbert and son, Richard 'Rick' Edwards Jr.  They settled in Gillette, WY where he worked in the training department at the Belle Ayr and Eagle Butte mines and retired in 2012, as the Vice President of Process Management.  Dick was also a devoted big brother, to his 'sissy poo', Connie Steagall and brother, Donnie Edwards.

Dick played basketball, football and baseball throughout high school and college and played guitar in a band. He also enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and cruising the Spearfish Canyon in his 1965 Ford Mustang. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and often attended Spring Training games while they stayed in Peoria, AZ.

Dick is survived by his wife, Linda; 2 children and son-in-law, Chrissi and Brad, Rick; 7 grandchildren, Mercedes, James, Abby, Bella, Britni, Madison and Carter; 2 great grandchildren Dean and Sabrina; sister, Connie;  brother-in-law, Mike; nephew, Craig, spouse Tracey and their daughters Sydney and Zoey; niece, Kelly, spouse Greg and their son Trent; brother Donnie, sister-in-law, Rita and their families. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wyvonee, his father, James; grandmother, Mary and grandfather, Wright.
