IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reva
Kemp
October 16, 1955 – March 24, 2019
On March 24th, 2019, Reva Kemp, 63 of Spearfish, knew her kiddos could hold down the fort and decided it was time to join her loving husband, Jack. Her strength and tenacity allowed her to build a solid foundation and everything she did was about her family. Anyone that knows her truly understands that she is the most selfless and amazing woman in the world. She is a woman of many talents and takes pride in all that she does. She is the family rock and has taught her family to continue to be strong through all of life's challenges.
Reva was born on October 16, 1955 in Deadwood, SD to Sterling "Jack" and Ione Quenzer. She grew up in the Nemo area and later moved to Lead. She met the love of her life, Jack Kemp, and got married in 1972. She then graduated, with honors, from Lead High School in 1973. After high school, the two were on their way to conquer the world with a lifetime of awesome adventures to follow. If it meant shenanigans, they would go for it. They proved to everyone that they had a bond like none other and there was no obstacle that would hold them back.
Reva is an amazing talented woman of all trades. Anyone that grew up in the area, is familiar with Kemper's Ice Cream, which was one of her favorite accomplishments. She offered everyone a fun place to hang out and enjoy themselves. It was not uncommon to find her in a kitchen, as she worked in many restaurants over the years, where so many people were fortunate enough to cross her path. Hospitality and a good meal were always a top priority. There was nothing that she wouldn't try, she has a fierce spirit, and nothing would stand in her way. Her hobbies ranged from one extreme to another. Crocheting, splitting wood, outdoor adventures, planting flowers, crosswords, pinnacle, dancing, kids sports, and any craft project that she could think of, just to list a few. But most importantly, anything and she did revolved around her dear friends, and loving family. Her beauty shines from the inside out in every aspect of her life.
Jack and Reva's legacy includes four amazing children and ten phenomenal grandchildren.
Jonathan (Abby) Kemp with children Quinn and Carter of Summerset, SD; Josh (Ferra) Kemp with children Jaylen, Jacey, and Jett of Stickney, SD; Jessicca (Aaron) McKeown with children Elyssia, Marcus, and J-Vette of Nemo, SD and Jayda (Ry) Van Der Vorste with children Dagny and Thor of Belle Fourche, SD. Also including her loving mom, Ione Quenzer, of Lead, SD; caring sisters, Rose Jarvis, of Spearfish, SD and Lisa (Doug) Coolley of Sturgis, SD.
Reva has joined her father Sterling and the love of her life, Jack. So, the next time you hear thunder, go ahead and shout up to the heavens and let them know you can hear them dancing!
