Raymond Urruita, 36, of Cheyenne, WY and formerly of Lead, passed away peacefully to heaven, Friday, November 24, 2017, while surrounded by his loving family. Ray fought a short but courageous battle of cancer to the very end.
Raymond was born on August 17, 1981 to Johnny Urrita and Esther (Sano) Sartwell in San Diego, California. Raymond attended school in Lead/Deadwood and graduated from El Centro High School in May 2000. Raymond's world changed when his son, Preston was born on July 20, 2015, Preston being his pride and joy and his everything. His younger years Ray enjoyed played little league/pony baseball. Ray loved being with family and friends, he could always be found in the bowling alley, bowling with his father, mother, brothers or sister. While living in El Centro, he loved his dirt bike and taking many adventures trips to the sand dunes. Ray enjoyed tinkering with his rice burners! Raymond work as a mechanic at Halladay GMC Buick, Cheyenne up until his death.
Grateful to have shared in his life are his parents, Johnny (Alejandra) Urrutia and Esther (Jeremy) Sartwell; great-grandparents, Harold and Jesse Sartwell; grandparents, Juan Urrutia, Charles Sano and Al (Jennifer) Sartwell and Cheryl Sartwell; children, Preston Urrutia and Alexis Urrutia; brothers, Lawrence Urrutia, Andrew Sano and Joshua Urrutia; sister, Roselynn Sano; aunts, Tina (Steve) Anderson, Charlene (Mike) Schlegel, Carmen (Jim) Haefs and Nicole (Joe) Burdick; uncles, John (Tammy) Sartwell, Richard Urrutia, Erine Urrutia and Angle Urrutia; several step-brothers, step-sisters, numerous cousins, two nephews and his fiancée, Stacie Wihelm and son, Karson. He preceded in death by his great-grandparents Frank and Anotonia Alvarez and grandmothers, Rhonda Covell and Mary Urrutia.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead. Refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow at the V.F.W. in Deadwood.
