Obituary

Randy Raymond "Timberline" Conn, 67 of Deadwood, SD, passed away in his home on August 30, 2018. He will be greatly missed. We invite everyone to join us for the burial and Celebration of Life. The burial will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM. A celebration of Life will follow at the Deadwood VFW at 5:00 PM.

Randy Raymond Conn was born November 16, 1950 to Marian and Katherine (Markey) Conn. He lived and graduated high school in Madison, SD. In 1969 in enlisted in the Marine Corps. He spent 1 year, 4 months, and 10 days in Vietnam. While enlisted in the Marine Corp he acquired various medals: Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and he received a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1972 after 3 years of service.

After being discharged from the Marine Corps, he moved to Kansas. He decided to come up for the Sturgis Rally one year as he was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. While in Sturgis he met Becky Jones. They had twin boys on January 17, 1989. Randy worked at Homestake Gold Mine for a while before working for the City of Deadwood for 14 years. Randy spent his retirement hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle and being outdoors. He lived simply and was a great man.

Randy is survived by his twin sons, Craig and Ronnie Conn of Deadwood; his mother, Katherine Deremo of Madison, SD; sisters, Charlotte of Madison, SD, Rhonda (Gary) Baxter of Clear Lake, SD, and Sandy (Jerry) Dewitt of El Dorado, KS; and brother, Jim Deremo of Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his father Marian Conn and stepfather Bill Deremo.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
