Ralph J. Wrightson, 79, of Newcastle, WY, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Weston County Health Services.
Ralph was born August 18, 1930 in LaGrande, OR, to Harold and Velda Wrightson and was raised by his aunt and uncle, Ralph and Bertha Wrightson of Chadron, NE. Ralph married Carol Metzler on September 5, 1959. Ralph was a proud airman in the US Navy from 1951 until 1954. He earned an associate degree in Agriculture at Chadron State College. He began a career with the US Postal Service in 1973, in Newcastle, WY and became Post Master in Rozet, WY in October of 1981. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1992. Ralph was instrumental in starting the Girl Scout Camp at Red Bank Springs in 1965. He was also very active with his grandchildren when they were competing in High School Rodeo events.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 50 years Carol of Newcastle, his daughters, Marie (Craig) Corley of Douglas, WY, Stephanie (David) Kline of Newcastle, his grandchildren, Jason (Christen) Kline of Worland, WY, Corey Kline of Laramie, WY, Stacie (Aaron) Thompson of Custer, SD, step-grandchildren, Joe (Cindy) Corley and Serenity Thomas all of Newcastle.
Ralph was preceded in death by 1 brother and is survived by 3 brothers(Roy of Waynesville, MO., Lloyd of Baldwin Park CA., Bud of Bransom MO.), and 2 sisters(Dorothy Chapman of Arizona and Faye Conquist of Oregon).
Memorial services for Ralph will be held at 10:00a.m. on Friday, October 09, 2009 at Christ Episcopal Church in Newcastle. A memorial has been established for the Weston County Hospise. Online condolences may be written at: www.fidler-isburgfuneralchapels.com
