IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy
Kvilhaug
February 23, 1953 – October 3, 2025
After a five-year-long, hard-fought, and courageous battle with cancer, Peggy Marie Kvilhaug of Lead, South Dakota ascended to peace and eternal rest on Friday, the third of October, 2025. Peggy lived a full life filled with joy and compassion.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1953 to Galen and Bonnie Vanderlinden, she spent her formative years in Arvada, Colorado. In 1975, she married her best friend and partner for life, Terrance Kvilhaug of Lead, South Dakota. Their marriage lasted a long and fulfilled 51 years. She worked tirelessly as a talented accountant until her retirement in 2017. A lifelong-learner, she returned to college in the 2010s and graduated with honors in 2016. Peggy was a fiercely devoted wife and adoring mother, constantly caring for her husband Terry Kvilhaug and only son, Danur Kvilhaug. She spent her golden years in peace in the perfect splendor of the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota, spending her days bird-watching, cooking and baking, learning Spanish, listening to a wide variety of music, watching films, and feeding the local wildlife (she quickly learned that the deer who visited her yard adored crabapples).
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bonnie and Galen Vanderlinden of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and her brother, Gary Vanderlinden of Tuscon, Arizona. She is survived by her husband, Terry Kvilhaug of Lead, South Dakota; her son, Danur Kvilhaug of Cleveland, Ohio; her two sisters, Gay Vanderlinden of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Jan Vanderlinden of Boulder, Colorado; and her nieces Sarah Zacher of Ft. Collins, Jordan Feole of Ft. Collins, and Alicia Hampton of Grand Junction Colorado. All those who knew her loving and caring presence will remember her fondly and miss her dearly for all eternity.
Arrangements are under the care of Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead. Online condolences may be written at www.fidler-isburgfuneralchapels.com
