Polly was born to George and Nellie (Patz) Selig on June 3, 1916, in Monarch, WY, and attended grade school at Monarch. The family moved to New Mexico and she attended high school in Aztec. After the death of her father in 1933, the family returned to Monarch. Polly cooked for several ranch outfits in the area before she met Calvin G. Werre at Dayton, WY. The couple was married on October 16, 1937 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Monarch. Cal and Polly began their long married life of 69 years at Kirby, MT. In 1942 they began farming and ranching at Lodge Grass, MT and then in the Ranchester and Big Goose Creek Communities in Sheridan County. In 1955 they acquired the Ray Wood ranch west of Sundance and moved their family there. Their happiness was jolted with their biggest heartache in 1957, when they lost their only son, Delmar, in a vehicle/pedestrian accident. They continued to work the ranch together and then semi-retired in 1976. Cal and Polly sold the ranch and built their new home on a tract of land that they had reserved. Polly shared her incredible energy and homemaking skills helping other families care for their children, homes and businesses. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, church activities including the Ladies Altar Society and Rosary Society. Polly especially enjoyed community dances that she and Cal rarely missed.

In 1988, Polly was helping clean the church windows and fell after a scaffolding failure. She suffered broken bones, concussion and a stroke. She and Cal moved into Sundance in 1990. Then, as her health continued to deteriorate she moved into the nursing home in 1999.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, two sisters, Mary Arzy and Louise Manzek, and their spouses, four brothers; Michael, Frank, Andrew and Stanley Selig and their spouses.

She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws, Marselle (Dick) Saul of Lingle, WY and Carole (Dick) Kellem of Belle Fourche, two grandsons, Boyd (Sheila) Saul of Hayden, ID and David (Heather) Saul of Lingle, WY, two great-granddaughters, two step-great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance, Wyoming. Condolences may be written online at www.fidler-isburgfuneralchapels.com
