Pauline E. "Polly" West, 83, of Deadwood, SD passed away December 24, 2024, with her family by her side.

Pauline E. "Polly" West was born March 14,1941 in Flasher, North Dakota to Lewis and Pauline Meisel. She grew up on the family ranch near Selfridge, N.D. She attended schools in the area and graduated in 1959. After graduation she attended Christy Beauty School, and in the fall of 1960, she and her sister-in-law opened their beauty shop in Selfridge. After her mother's death in 1965, she looked after her father and two oldest brothers.

She married Wilbur M. "Mike" West and moved to the Deadwood-Lead area. They were blessed with two children – Maria and Wilbur Jr. "Willie".

Polly worked in several motels in Deadwood after her children were in school. She also worked at the Sturgis Hospital until she retired in 2005. She was part of the Auxiliary Unit 31 in 2007, shortly after she joined the Auxiliary, she was elected Chaplain and is currently still Chaplain.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Lewis and Pauline Meisel. Husband; Wilbur "Mike". Son; Willie West and Stepson; Donald West. Brothers; Bob, Martin, Carl and George. Sisters; Mary and Sr. Emily.

She is survived by her daughter Maria (Wayne) Hedger; brother Jim Meisel; Grandchildren; Shelly (Garrett) Warfield, Donnie Buntyn, Clint Buntyn, Kimberly Hunt & Christina Hunt.

Memorial services will be at 11:00AM Thursday January 2, 2025, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, SD. Internment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
