IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia D.
Springer
August 13, 1927 – April 3, 2019
Patricia "Patty" Delphine Springer, 91 of Deadwood passed away peacefully on April 3, 2019, at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare.
Patty was born August 13, 1927 to Bernard "Doc" Smith and Mildred (Faragher) Smith in Deadwood. Her family relocated to Hawthorne, NV, when Patty was a junior in high school. There she would meet her future husband, William "Bill" Grant Springer, who was stationed in Nevada, while serving in the Navy during WWII. The couple married on May 10, 1946. Bill and Patty first lived in Newton, KS before moving to Deadwood, where they raised their four children; Linda, Diane, Cynthia and Mark. While Bill spent his career working for Homestake Mining Company, Patty was the ever-dutiful housewife. She was proud to be a member of the Eastern Star of Deadwood and was a faithful parishioner at St. John's Episcopal Church. She was also a consummate word smith and loved challenging anyone to a game of Scrabble, she enjoyed watching classic movies and reading paperback novels. She loved spending time with family and friends and knitting. She enjoyed participating in slot tournaments with her group of friends as well. The real void that Patty's family and friends will feel is her selflessness. She had unconditional love for her family and would put others needs before her own. Though her family feels a deep sense of loss, they are at ease knowing she is reunited again with Bill as well as her parents and siblings.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mildred Smith, her husband, Bill Springer, one brother, Bernard "Smitty" Smith, sisters; Dorothy Adkins, Margaret Roth, Shirley Zuniga, Ruthie Smith and Mary Losch and one nephew, Allen Smith.
Patty is survived in death by her children, Linda (Burt Oxborrow) Springer, Diane Knight, Cindy (Leo) Bridgers and Mark Springer, grandchildren; Jeff (Rachelle) Knight, Andrea Knight (Jeremy Hutchins), Angel Ruth, David (Kerry) Ruth, Wendi Ruth, Rusty (Cathy) Ruth, Brenton Springer, Daniel Springer, Danielle (Max) Aguirre and Kristine Oxborrow and great-grandchildren; Billie Enderby, Tanner Ruth, Jachin Ruth, Taylor Nunn, Peyton Nunn, Kameron Knodel, Willa Ruth, Noelle Ruth, Sam Knight, Holden Knight, Connor Springer, Tiana Springer, Maximo Aguirre, Alexa Aguirre and Dylan Hutchins.
