Patricia Mary Andrew Newlin died December 21, 2012 at the Crook County Long Term Care facility. She was 83 years old.
Patricia "Pat" was born in Louisville, CO on August 18, 1929. Her parents were Frank and
Katherine Cunning Andrew. Pat was the youngest of four children from this union. Siblings
were her brother, Wilbur and sisters, Dorothy and Betty.
Pat met the love of her life when she was just a teenager in the form of a handsome young
sailor, named Russell Newlin. They were soon married and had four sons; Terry, Kelly, Kim
and Scott. They spent a short time in Colorado and then moved back to Sioux Falls, SD,
where some of Russell's family lived. They soon had a nice home and Russell had a job as
a delivery truck driver. In 1958 they moved to Wyoming, to pursue Russell's dream of
working and living on a ranch. The family moved to Sundance, Wyoming that year, into
a tiny house on the George Summer's place. The house had no indoor plumbing, and with three
young sons, Pat worked very hard to make it into a home. She soon made friends though,
and settled in to this new life.
Pat was beloved by everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mother,
grandmother, and friend. She loved to bowl, was active in her children and grandchildren's
4-H clubs, and spent many years in the crows nest while her family was roping.
She was an optimist who made the best of whatever situation she found herself in. Many,
many people sat across from her at her kitchen table and had a cup of coffee with her and
found themselves unburdening their troubles and woes to her. She always could be counted
on to give sage, practical advice and make them feel better. She adored her husband and
family and always put them first. She will be dearly missed by all.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, her daughter-in-law, Lori Newlin, her
parents, brother, sisters and brother-in-laws.
She is survived by her sons; Terry, Kelly (Donna), Kim (Mary), and Scott (Melony), ten
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Kenyon and many nieces and nephews, including Ronette Kahler and her family.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 28, 2012 at Sundance United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Green Mountain Cemetery near Sundance. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
A memorial has been established to benefit the Crook County Horseman Association.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance, Wyoming.
