Obituary

We are heartbroken to say Oscar Albert Leveille Jr. passed away unexpectedly on July 30th, 2023, in Deadwood, SD.

Oscar was born on February 4, 1963, in Whitinsville, MA to Oscar Albert Leveille Sr. and Rosemary Theresa Leveille (Macchiaroli).   After he graduated Northbridge Highschool in 1981, he followed his passions to many places, collecting a lifetime full of amazing experiences that he shared with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful Mother, Rosemary Theresa Leveille (Macchiaroli).

Oscar is survived by his Father, Oscar Albert Leveille, his three sisters and their partners, Catherine Anne O'Connell and Sean O'Connell, Linda Marie Irwin and Steve Gentile, Christine Jean Best and Christopher Best, his eight nieces and nephews, Rachel Sutherland, Katie Sutherland (Oscar's God Daughter), Michael Sutherland and  Julie Sutherland, Samantha Torti and Michael Torti, Anthony Southwick and Marci Bourassa,  Tyler Oosterman, Alexis Oosterman, Jenna Rose Oosterman, and five great nieces and nephews and so many family and friends.

Oscar passed as he lived, doing what he loved best, being at Sturgis.  This was his 25th year. He rose every morning, got his cup of coffee, and watched the sun come up over the mountains. This was his second family, and their love and admiration meant a lot to him.

With his love for the outdoors, it's no surprise Oscar had no interest in the typical 9-5 humdrum life. Instead, he focused on learning skills in areas that interested him. He repaired and rode motorcycles, sewed leather fabric for bikers thru Chaps and Bags, was a contractor on many successful job sites. He was especially proud of his contribution to Glamping Retro/Tennessee Mountain Glampground. and had a real eye for buying and reselling goods. He was a regular "MacGyver".

Oscar also loved to travel and meet new people and with each adventure, he added to his skill set. Although he never wanted to be caught in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, his work ethic was second to none. He has a passion for beauty and strived for perfection in everything that he did.

Oscar truly enjoyed simple pleasures and appreciated nature for all of its beauty and stillness. He was a strong and humble Christian man, whose compassion was felt by everyone he met. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends (his chosen family).  Oscar may have lived all over, but he always dropped everything to support those he loved.

Oscar lived in Massachusetts, Florida, Arkansas, and his favorite, Tennessee. We reference the quote "NOT ALL THOSE WHO WANDER ARE LOST " when speaking of Oscar's life because it seemed unconventional to some. In fact, he always believed his family thought he was crazy, but in truth we were jealous. He lived his life on his own terms, and what a beautiful full life that was.

We are the lucky ones to have him in our lives, as our son, brother, uncle and best yet, our friend.

RIP Oscar.  We all love you and miss you already.

See you on the other side.
