Nyla Jean Schad, 79, Spearfish, SD, was called to Heaven Saturday, July 26, 2014; two days shy of her 80th birthday, with her family by her side.
The daughter of Ross and Esther (Fuller) Wince was born in rural Dupree, SD. She graduated from Dupree High School in 1952. She married Charles Schad on March 10, 1954. To this union five daughters and one son were born.
She was involved with the Black Hills State Faculty Wives and the Women's Fellowship at the United Church of Christ and enjoyed the companionship and drinking coffee with many friends.
She was an avid knitter and crocheter and will forever be remembered for the numerous afghans she lovingly created for the weddings, births and graduations of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is survived by her husband; children Terri (Dick) Dunwoody, Lynette (Teryl) Kelley, Nathel (James) Coca, Cami (Gary) Dohman, Michael (Jackie) Schad; her brothers Gordon (Carole) Wince and Donald (Charleen) Wince; 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Deanna Clarke, her parents, her brother Sherman and sister-in-law Goldine Wince.
Her grandson Zade Dohman remembered her on his Facebook page: "Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver. We will miss you more than you think we do-feeling crying my eyes out."
Visitation for Nyla will be 5-7 PM, Tuesday, July 29, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 30, at Spearfish United Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
