Norma Jean “Grandma Jean” Lang, 80, of Moorcroft passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 23, 2025, at Crook County Hospital in Sundance, Wyoming.
Born in Edgemont, South Dakota, Jean spent her childhood in many places she fondly remembered—Kaycee and Buffalo, Wyoming; Spencer, South Dakota; Ord, Nebraska; and, most meaningfully, Moorcroft, Wyoming, where she built her home and spent most of her life. A devoted homemaker and mother, Jean poured her heart into raising her family and caring for the people she loved. Her home was not only warm and welcoming but always beautifully kept. She had a gift for nurturing her children, grandchildren, and even her lawn and flower garden, which she tended with pride and joy. Jean lived simply but fully. She loved bowling nights, summer days fishing on the pontoon boat, cheering on Duke basketball—or as she would say, “the Dukes”—and any moment she could spend with her grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her children: Rob Lang Sr. (Lorri), Kelly Lang (Dyann), and Jeanie Rae Lang Franzen (Donnie); her sister, Carol McPeak; her grandchildren: Robbie Lang Jr. (Kait), Luke Lang, Chad Lang (Jenna), McKayla Young, Josh Lang, Alecs Hopkins, Hayden Franzen (Allie), and McKinlee Franzen; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Lang; her parents, Damon and Velma Coulter; her daughter, Lori Lang; her grandson, Bryse Lang; her brother, Dale Coulter; and an infant brother.
Jean lived her life with deep faith and a strong love for God, carrying that love into the way she cared for others. Her faith was a steady anchor, shaping her kindness, her resilience, and her generous spirit. Her legacy lives on in the hearts she touched, the love she gave, and the memories that will be cherished for generations.
Memorial services will be on December 4, 2025 at 1pm at the First Presbyterian Church. It is located at 100 S. Belle Fourche Ave, Moorcroft, Wy 82721
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance.
