Nira Irene Nichols, 91, of Spearfish, SD, formerly of Lead, SD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at her home in Spearfish surrounded by her family.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Mountain Lawn Cemetery near Lead.

Nira Irene Nichols was born on April 2, 1934, in Elm Springs, SD, a daughter of Richard and Pearl (Hall) Napton.  She later moved with her family to the Black Hills area of South Dakota; living in the Rapid City and Sturgis area.  Nira married Robert Michael, and the two made their home in Lead where they raised their family.  Nira later married William L. Nichols.  She eventually moved to Spearfish where she lived until her passing.

Those left to mourn her passing are her three daughters, Pam Lewis, Roberta "Bobbie" Williams and Stella Anderson; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Nira was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Pearl Napton; her husband, William "Sonny" Nichols; three daughters, Cheryl Michael, Helen Millar and Patty Flynn; son, Richard Michael; great-grandson, Josha Reed and a great-granddaughter, Addison Williams.
