Nathan Gary Rickman, age 46, was born August 27th, 1977, in Columbus, MT to Gary Rickman and Peggy Bernards.  He passed away on December 23, 2023, at his home in Deadwood, SD after a short illness.

He grew up on the ranch in Dean, MT graduated from Absarokee High School in 1996, and attended Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD.

After spending some time on the East Coast, he returned to Montana and worked in Billings for a period.  Eventually, he found his way to Fort Collins, CO where he spent several years working at a retirement community before finally settling in Deadwood, SD.

In Deadwood he worked at several establishments making friends wherever he went.  He lived and worked in a community that always accepted him for who he was.  This enabled him to become a key organizer in Deadwood Pride.

Nathan loved the mountains and the time he spent working at the ranch in Montana.  He enjoyed cooking, growing his own herbs, tending to his house plants and his aquariums.

Nathan was a kind and caring person who was loved and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Gary and Roberta Rickman of Miles City, MT, his mother and stepfather, Peggy and Roger Bernards of Deadwood, SD, brothers Travis Rickman, of Billings, MT, Jake (Allie) Bernards, of Deadwood, SD, stepbrother Dwayne Morgan, Miles City, MT, his sister Amanda Rickman, Billings, MT, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was especially close to his Aunt Karen and cousin Angela.

Funeral Services will be held at the Nye Church in Nye, MT on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the Charlie Utter Theater at the Deadwood Social Club on January 11, 2024, at 5 pm.
