Naomi "Alice" Shaykett, 92, of Whitewood, SD, passed from this life on December 25, 2015, after a short illness.

Alice was born in Flasher, N.D. on March 27, 1923, the tenth child of Owen Charles Dennis and Olive Elizabeth (Wing) Dennis. On May 3, 1946 she married Ralph "Bud" Shaykett. To this union were born three children: Judy Shaykett (Bruce Olding), Newell, SD; Gary Shaykett (Deceased); and Kay(Ed) Kapsa, Whitewood, S.D. Bud and Alice have lived in the Belle Fourche and more recently, Whitewood areas for all of their nearly 70 years of marriage.

Alice is survived by her husband, two daughters, eight grandchildren: Patrick Gilmore, Shannon(Troy)Zwetzig , Teresa (Justin) Larive, all of Newell, SD; Scott (Allison) Shaykett, Sioux Falls, SD; Amanda Shaykett, Story, WY; Krista (Patrick) Nero, Spearfish, SD; Megan (Mark) Beard, Johnstown, CO; and Stephanie Morriss, Keller, TX; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Barbara Kiewel, Shakopee, MN , Mildred Dennis, Phoenix, AZz and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary, her parents, 14 siblings, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held this summer 2016.
