Nancy Ann Bridenstine, 71, Lead, SD passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Spearfish Canyon Healthcare, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Nancy was born March 12, 1953, to Meredith "Shorty" and Rose (Schlim) Nelson in Mitchell, SD. Her family moved to Blacktail, SD in 1957. Nancy attended Deadwood High School and graduated in 1971.
Nancy married Charles Charles, Sr. on February 10, 1973. To this union their only son was born. Nancy married Dennis Bridenstine on September 13, 1992.
Nancy worked various jobs and many times she worked more than one job at a time. Nancy began working at the Lawrence County Assessor's office in 1984 and remained there for 30 years until her retirement in 2015.
Nancy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lead where she enjoyed being a part of their bible study group. She had a green thumb and enjoyed indoor and outdoor plants of all kinds. She liked watching many different sports. She especially loved watching her Minnesota Vikings where she could often be heard yelling at the TV. Her grandkids and fur babies were her whole world.
Nancy is survived by her son Charles (Kristie) Charles Jr., granddaughter Georgie, and grandson Tripp of Spearfish, SD; sisters Judy (Ray) Meverden of Spearfish, SD, Jane (Gary) Fritz of Stanley, WI, Daniel (Ava) Nelson of Lead, SD, Joyce (Philip) Yates of Custer, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Twin City Animal Shelter.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Lead. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Deadwood.
