Obituary

Muriel Seifert, 95 of Spearfish died on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Garden hills Assisted Living.

Muriel was born on February 11, 1921 in Lidgerwood, ND to Benjamin and Amelia (Erickson) Millis. She was raised in Rutland, ND where she attended school and graduated in 1939. While attending State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND she met her future husband, Ed Seifert and they were married on September 1, 1943 in Cayuga, ND, after Ed's discharge from the Army. In 1944, they purchased a farm and established a homestead where they raised their family, Carl, Gloria, Lonnie and Tom.

In 1976 they retired from farming and moved to Spearfish, SD where they operated an antique shop until 1999. They loved dancing and traveling. They travelled to many foreign counties and also extensively in the U.S. and Mexico. Muriel loved sewing and for many years sewed extensively for her grandchildren. She was an avid collector of antique dolls and was a charter member of the Spearfish Doll Club. In 1978, she organized a neighborhood bible study which was associated with the Stonecroft bible studies and she was still a member at the time of her death. Though her eyes had dimmed and her hearing was not good, she loved the association with her Christian friends. She was a devoted Christian that loved the Lord and her family was also the love of her life.

She is survived by her children, Gloria Machaud, Thomas Seifert, Lonnie (Steve) Heesch; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren with one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son, Carl Blumhoff; an infant daughter; a sister and a great-grandchild. She will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends.

A prayer service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2016 with a visitation to follow until 5:00 PM at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
