Obituary

Monroe Franklin Arnold, 90, formerly of Spearfish, passed away on January 22, 2013 in Scottsbluff, NE.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 27, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, S.D.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors by the Spearfish Honor Guard will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

Monroe was born July 18, 1922 in Rapid City, S. D. to Armella and Edward Arnold. He spent his early years in the area around Rapid City and joined the U.S. Army during WW II and served his country with honor. He was awarded the Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he married the former Mildred Wilson of Elm Springs S.D. on June 11, 1946. They had five children and were divorced on August 3, 1965.

Monroe was later married to Florence Kosola in 1967. They lived and worked in Rapid City, South Dakota until their retirement. After their retirement, they lived in Nisland and Spearfish, South Dakota. Monroe enjoyed working in his garden and being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife Florence Arnold of Scottsbluff, NE, daughter Norene (Mike) Black of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, sons Terry (Chris) Arnold of Santee, CA, Kelly (Mary) Arnold of San Bernardino, CA, Scott (Cheri) Arnold of Norco, CA, and daughter Lori Jackson of Cantonment, FL, step-son, Dale (Michele) Starks of Scottsbluff, NE also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
