Monica Jan Beer, PhD, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, in an accident on her property in Deadwood, South Dakota.
Monica devoted her life and career to supporting the mental health of active duty and former military members. She was a passionate advocate for animal welfare and supported programs to provide therapy dogs to wounded veterans.
Monica was born June 10, 1960. She is survived by her dear husband, Dr. Greg Vecchi; her mother, Dr. Janice Forsythe; father, General Neil Beer; sister, Daphne Lynne Beer and half-sister, Ashley Beer Venenga; brother, Dr. Reg Beer and half-brother, Brenson Beer and by her beloved pets, Jake, Chance, Cisco, Lexie, Jessie, and Walter, as well as countless family members and friends whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 2:00pm, at the historic St. John's Episcopal Church, 401 Williams Street, Deadwood, South Dakota 57732.
A second memorial service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 2:00pm, at the historic St. John's Episcopal Church, 401 Williams Street, Deadwood, South Dakota 57732.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Monica Jan Beer Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank location.
