Michael A. Gomez, 54, died on November 29, 2012, with his family by his side in Spearfish, SD.
Michael was born on March 15, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, to Dr. Alberto and Jeanette (Arnold) Gomez. He lived in Mexico and Lead before moving to Belle Fourche. He graduated from Belle Fourche High School in 1976. He attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Black Hills State University. He worked various jobs before starting his employment at the Country Kitchen in Spearfish in 1980, where he spent the next 22 years at the Country Kitchen (Millstone) keeping everyone on their toes.
Upon leaving the Millstone in 2002 Michael began a new journey around Spearfish. He had a regular route around town, and at each stop, he could be found "working his numbers" and offering his advice and input to everyone. Michael had the ability to spark a conversation with anyone, whether they were an old friend or a complete stranger. He had a remarkable mind and a selfless, adoring heart, always worrying about everyone else before himself. Michael offered unconditional, relentless friendship to those around him, always offering a helping hand and never asking anything in return. His smiling face will be missed by many at his usual stops. Most of all, Michael will be deeply missed by his family, who are honoring and celebrating his full, vibrant life.
Michael is survived by his siblings Alan Gomez (Patty) of Fredericksburg, Va.; Alberto "Lenny" Gomez (Cassie) of Spearfish; and Patty Imber (Steve) of Byers, Colorado; his family-in-laws Roger and Clara Stevens of Spearfish and Craig and Bobbi Miller of Bozeman, Montana; his nieces and nephews Justin, Nathan, and Aaron Gomez of Virginia; Aleisia and Adam Gomez of Spearfish; Sarah, Taylor, Ryan, and Jacob Imber of Colorado; and Mackenzie and Madelyne Miller of Montana.
