Michael Edlund, 61 of Lead died March 31, 2016 at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital in Deadwood.

Memorial services will be at 10am, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lead. Inurnment will take place at Mountain Lawn Cemetery, near Lead.

Michael was born February 1, 1955 to Carl and Joyce (Thomson) Edlund in Deadwood, SD. He was raised and attended school in Lead, graduating from Lead High School in 1973. He married Vicki Murray on July 30, 1977 in Lead. Michael was employed at Homestake Mining Company until 2001; he then worked at Wharf Mining Company and later for Arch Coal in Wyoming. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He loved spending time with his grandkids, who affectionately called him "Papa". Michael always made time to help any family or friends in need; he was a very generous and caring person.

He will be missed by his wife, Vicki Edlund of Lead, his children; Jackie (Craig Werner) Merrill of Mead, CO, Josh (Karmen Barrett) Edlund of Lead, Trisha (Dusty) Hirsch of Rapid City and Jace Edlund of Lead, his siblings; Pat Edlund of Arvada, CO, Laura (Joel) Wright of Gillette, WY, Carla (Gary) Garner of Piedmont and Julie (Russ) Evenson of Lead, his beloved grandchildren; Kaden, Fay and Lennon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are under the care of the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel in Lead.
