Obituary
Melvin O. Anderson, 83, Spearfish, SD died Friday, August 12, 2011 at David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.
Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M- 1:30 P.M. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Gene Bauman officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
Melvin was born on September 26, 1927 in Spearfish to Oscar and Hilda (Carlsen) Anderson. He ranched all of his life, loving what he did from day to day. He was a brand inspector for 21 years and on the Board of Supervisors for Lawrence Conservation District for a number of years. He lived a long hard life.
Survivors include his wife Ruth, Spearfish; son Bernard (Jamie) Kortuem, Spearfish; daughters Carla Anderson and fiance Joe Champeau , Sheboygan, WI, and Dixie (Jim) McLaughlin, Butte, MT; and brother Carl Anderson, Spearfish and 15 grandchildren.
