Matthew Paul Hill, 33, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025, in the arms of his mother. Born on March 24, 1992, to Michele and Bob Hill. Matthew was raised in Spearfish and graduated from Spearfish High School in 2010. Five years ago, Matthew embraced a new adventure and moved to Cleveland, Tennessee, with his grandparents.

Matthew had a heart as big as the open skies of the Black Hills. Known for his generosity and selflessness, he would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. His love for fishing, motocross, and cars was matched only by his love for his family and friends. Whether it was a quiet day on Pactola Lake, time spent at the family cabin in the Hills, or simply being surrounded by the people he loved, Matthew found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life.

He is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his parents, Michele Hill (John) Eckart and Bob (Denise) Hill; his sisters, Anna (Robert) Miller, Danielle Hill-Kunkel (Colton Dobbins), and Chantel (Jost) Bearden; his grandmother, Joy Carroll; and his many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Matthew was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Carroll, a role model and guiding light in his life; his paternal grandfather, John R. Hill; his paternal grandmother, Patricia Hill-Damon; and Patricia's husband, Ken Damon.

In honor of Matthew's life, the family will hold a private and intimate service.

Matthew's warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
