IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mason Christopher
Schlup
March 22, 2005 – September 13, 2025
Mason Christopher Schlup was born on March 22, 2005. He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Mason attended Spearfish Public Schools and graduated from Spearfish High School in May 2023.
Mason had a zest for life and lived his life to the fullest.
Early in his elementary years, he decided to try the sport of wrestling. He enjoyed it but took off a few years only to be reacquainted with the love of wrestling in his middle school years. This continued throughout his high school years. He loved the sport and especially John Bokker, who was his high school coach. John and Mason had a great connection and Mason looked up to him. Because of this connection, Mason went to State Wrestling tournaments and was so proud of his accomplishments.
While in high school, Mason also discovered welding and became very skilled at it. He won several awards at the spring art/welding shows. His Disney Tunes fire pit and mailbox sign will be daily reminders of Mason.
After graduation, he tried a few different jobs in hopes of finding the one he loved. That happened in April of 2025 when he started at the new business in Spearfish, Les Schwab Tire Center. Mason was so proud of this job and loved going to work. His dream was to have his own store someday. Customer comments, after working with Mason, were outstanding and he smiled bigger than ever!
Mason loved cars and fast cars! He amazed his father and friends when he ordered a motor off of Amazon to do a total redo of his favorite car. Mason was so pleased to know he had totally overhauled his car and enjoyed spending time driving it, even though sometimes he was going too fast!
Mason loved his family and enjoyed being a big brother to his sisters, Madelynn and Mckenna. He also loved his favorite four-legged friend, Luna. He and Luna had a great connection and spent a lot of time together. One of his first welding projects was a food dish with her name on it, which is another daily reminder of Mason. He recently fell in love with another four-legged friend, Tilly, Madelynn's kitten. They quickly formed a bond too.
Mason loved his many friends and spending time with them. He acquired a special relationship with Kadeyn and Laini. Mason also enjoyed camping with his mom and family.
Mason is survived by his parents, Christopher Schlup, Rebecca Schlup (Mike); sisters, Madelynn and Mckenna; grandparents, John and Carlene Burke, Dan and Brenda Schlup, and Doug and Shirley Filand; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
We are all sad that Mason is no longer with us physically, but we know he is with us every day and encouraging us to move forward and keep going. We will forever love you, Mason!
