Mary Jane (Zimmerman) Wagner, 83, of Lead, SD was born on January 15, 1943, in McIntosh County, ND passed away on August 9, 2026.

She enjoyed walking, spending time with her neighbors and being at home with her cat. Visiting with her sisters and brother often was a highlight for her.

She loved hearing stories about her seven grandchildren and her 15 great-grandchildren.

Mary spent several years volunteering at the animal shelter in Lead caring for the animals and making friends.

She was a homemaker for most of her life caring for her children and neighborhood kids as well. Working at the high school as a custodian in Lead kept her busy. She was an early riser and was particular about how things were done. She was a hard worker and took great pride in everything she did.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl Wagner, Sr, and son, Greg Wagner along with several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail (John) Bunch, Lead, SD, son, Earl Jr. (Laura) Tucson, AZ, daughter, Margie (Benjie), Deadwood, SD, daughter-in-law, Cindy Wagner, Spearfish, SD, stepson, Donald (Marcella) Larsen, Sturgis, SD, brother, Hugo (Deb) Zimmerman of Ashley, ND; two sisters Della (Duane) Mullner of Aberdeen, SD and Diana (Michael) Ritchie of Clements, CA.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Lead-Deadwood Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mountain Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Twin City Animal Shelter in Lead, SD.
