Mary Kay Viles, 48, Spearfish, passed away on Tuesday, Jan.11, 2011 under care at her home.
Mary Kay was born March 25, 1962 in Valentine, Neb., the daughter of Elaine Viles and Jerry Johnson. She moved to Spearfish in 1976 from Missouri and attended Spearfish High School. She later studied tourism at Black Hills State College. On Nov. 10, 2008 she was married to Steve Wilson in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mary Kay was a great wife and loving mother of two sons, Jason and Chad. Family was a cornerstone of her life as well as time spent with her many friends. Mary Kay had the ability to bring joy and love to all she touched and everyone who knew her thought the world of her. She is remembered as an incredibly hard worker, a woman of strength and character, and a friend who shared her smile and cheerful nature generously. The sound of her laughter was a gift that could brighten the day of those who knew her.
Travel was one pastime that she enjoyed, having made trips from Alaska to Florida and exploring many states in between. She also visited Mexico and enjoyed a special trip to England and France with her mother and sister, Kristin. Mary Kay also had a special love for Custer State Park and Sylvan Lake.
Mary Kay is survived by her husband, Steve Wilson of Spearfish; son, Chad Barker of Belle Fourche; father, Jerry Johnson, Broken Bow, Neb.; uncle Larry Huber and his wife Kris of Gillette, Wyo.; brother, Keith Viles and his wife Debbie of Cody, Wyo.; sister Kristin Key and her husband Scott of Colorado; and also three nephews, one great-nephew and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ben and Mary Huber; her mother, Elaine Viles; and her son Jason Barker.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at the funeral chapel.
Survivors include her husband Steve Wilson of Spearfish, son Chad Barker of Belle Fourche, father Jerry Johnson, Broken Bow, NE, brother Keith (Debbie) Viles of Cody, WY and sister Kristin (Scott) Key of CO.
