Obituary

Mary Margaret Marsh was born September 10, 1923 to Lela Bernice and George Andrew Turner in Strasburg, Missouri. Mary Margaret passed away surrounded by her family on Christmas Day 2014 in Spearfish SD.

After graduation from high school in Independence, MO Mary Margaret worked during WWII at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, where she was involved in the production process of carbine ammunition. Later Mary Margaret moved to California and was employed by Lockheed Aircraft Manufacturing Company. It was at this time that her mother introduced her shift boss, Leo Marsh to her daughter Mary Margaret. After a whirlwind courtship of three months, she was married to the love of her life Leo Marsh on Halloween Day, 1943 in Glendale, CA and spent 71 years providing an example of unconditional love. It was because of this Mary Margaret always used to say with a smile that since she and Leo were married on Halloween….Leo got a witch and she got a spook. During this time in California, their son Richard was born.

After WWII, Leo and Mary Margaret moved back to Leo's home state of South Dakota where she was a home maker.

Throughout the rest of her life, Mary Margaret provided unselfish and unconditional love to her family. Mary Margaret is survived by her husband, Leo, son, and daughter-in-law, Richard, and Helen Marsh of Spearfish; four grandchildren, Ryan Marsh of Cheyenne, WY, Rochelle McClintock and husband Trevor of Omaha, NE, Richard Marsh and wife Kristin of Rapid City, and Regan Marsh and wife Stevie of Cheyenne; and seven great-grandchildren; Landon, Hannah, Connor, Madison, Emma, Leo and Mia.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 10:00am at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel, Spearfish, SD. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm at Mt. View Cemetery in Rapid City.
