Mary Ann (Carlson) Huss 103 of Spearfish passed away at Crook County Memorial Nursing Home in Sundance, WY on April14, 2010.
Funeral services will held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, SD.
Mary Ann Carlson Huss was born on a ranch at Capitol, Montana on February 12, 1907. She was the daughter of Mary Ann Bickerdyke Carlson and Andro Carlson. Mary attended Rapid Business College and was united in marriage to Donald C. Huss of Rapid City, South Dakota, July 27th, 1932. There were no children born to this union. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Siblings who preceded her in death were Tilda, Carl, Edna, Frank, Floyd, and Roy, after her husbands death in 1963, she moved from Florida to California and then to Rapid City, South Dakota. Mary was a member of the Bible and Book Circle of the First Methodist Church in Rapid City. In 1998, she moved to the Hickory House in Spearfish, South Dakota, while living there she was active in the Spearfish United Methodist Church, and acquired many friends while there. In 1999, Mary was transferred to the Crook County Memorial Nursing Home in Sundance, WY. Mary was fortunate to have a military husband, so she traveled the world with him, when possible. They lived in many places including the Philippines, after Don's discharge, he was employed by Bectel Engineering Corporation as an engineer, that took them to Afghanistan for several years and from there to Coca Beach, Florida, where Don passed away. That wasn't the end of Mary's travels, she had a chance to go to China, so she went and saw the Great Wall. Aunt Mary was known for her positive and amazing ability to "look on the bright side" based on her faith in God. Mary had a great and loving life.
Mary is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
