Obituary

Mary E. (Zantow) Bobier, 74 of Spearfish, SD passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at her home.

Visitation will be held at Fidler-lsburg Funeral Chapel from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Fidler-lsburg Funeral Chapel with Chaplin Charley Conger.

Mary Elizabeth Weber was born October 5, 1935 to Carl and Elsie (Callin) Weber at Ipswich, SD. She was the oldest of four children. She graduated from Ipswich High School with the class of '53. She attended Northern State Teachers College at Aberdeen, graduating with a 1st Grade Certificate. She taught 2 years in rural Edmunds County. She married Fred H. Zantow, August 12, 1955 at Lutheran Church, Leola, SD. They moved to Lead, SD in September, 1956. Fred worked for the Homestake Mining Company for 28 years. They were members of Bethal Lutheran Church. Together they built their own home and moved to Spearfish in 1982. They helped raise their nieces, Ruth Ann Elsie, Debbie, Trinee and nephews David, Kevin and Bruce. Fred died June 13, 1985

Mary married Dennis Bobier, December 18, 1988 at Spearfish. Together they owned and operated Finiky Foto in Spearfish, retiring in 2003. Mary joined the Black Hills Girl Scouts in 1960, serving as leader, neighborhood chairman, BHGS board member, Camp Pahasapa. She is a Lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and was presented the Thanks Badge, the highest honor in Girl Scouts.
Mary was honored to be nominated for Lead Woman of Achievement. She was a 30 year member of the Hilltop Extension Club and a member of United Methodist Church, Spearfish and enjoyed collecting Barbie Dolls. She loved their dachshunds, Sami, Caddie and Ace.

Surviors include her husband, Dennis, of Spearfish; nieces Trinee Kwasniewski(who she considered her daughter) of New Ulm, MN; Ruth Ann Wecker, of Lacey, WA; Elsie Wescott, of Puyallup, WA; Debbie Post, of Roy, WA; nephews Bruce Geist, Boise, ID and Donald Zantow, Ina, IL. She was preceding her in death were her parents; a brother Dale; sisters Joyce and Diane Weber; nephews Kevin Geist, David Wescott, Jimmy Wescott, R.J. and in-laws Rosemary and Frances Bickle.
