Mary Jane Armstrong, 69, of Spearfish went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, surrounded by family.

Mary was born July 26, 1945, to Charley and Iva (Page) Thomason in Lexington, Oklahoma. She married Donald Armstrong on April 2, 1976. The couple made their home in Spearfish in 1978.

Mary made her home welcome to everyone. She never knew a stranger. It didn't matter if you were family or someone she just met, you became family when you entered her home. There was always an endless pot of coffee and plenty of food for anyone who entered. When she loved, she loved deeply but sternly. Mary was once described by a very new friend as "rough as bark and sweet as a spring daisy at the same time". Anyone who knew her knows what this means. Her pets were extremely important to her and were the most loved pets around. She is loved and will be missed.

Mary is survived by her family, Tammy (Tim) Kursave, Tina Marie and Megan Cordell, Donna (John) Nelson, special son, Rick Froehlich, Randy and Mandi Burnett (Makyla, Ashlyn and Avery), Brichelle Burnett and Craig Thaler (Brennen and Wade), Alexis and Rick Mendyka (Olivia); and numerous family members.

There will be a celebration of Mom's life from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday, March 14 above Friend's Salon located at 110 Colorado Blvd in Spearfish. Please join us in remembering and sharing special moments of joy.
