Marvin Einar Magnusson, 84, of Spearfish, passed away on July 14, 2010 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
He was born July 8, 1926 to Gudmunder Adelstien "Alli" and Thorlaug (Finnson) Magnusson in Milton, North Dakota. He graduated from high school at Crookston , Minnesota in 1944. Marv served in the United States Army for four years. He had two tours of duty in Europe with the 3rd Infantry and with War Crimes division at Dackou, Germany, while in the service he was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his return Marv married Doris Johnson on December 11, 1948 at Mountain, North Dakota. Marv spent 45 years in the grocery industry and retired in 1991. Marv loved to do home remodeling in his sparetime and hunting with his sons.
Survivors include his wife Doris Magnusson, sons; Bruce (Julie) Magnusson, Spearfish, John (Celeste) Magnusson, Spearfish, daughters; Roxane (Mike) Dick, Belle Fourche and Camile (Mel) Snow, Slayton, MN, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents, Alli and Thorlaug Magnusson, brother, John Magnusson and two grandchildren, Anna Magnusson and Colbie Snow.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M., Monday, July 19, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish. Lunch will be served after the service at the church. Burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 21, 2010 with military honors by the Spearfish Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family or a charity of your choice.
