Martha Jean (Marti) Collins passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota after a brief illness.

Marti was born September 4, 1960 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, the second daughter of Ray and Janetta Hill. They preceded her in death. As an Army brat, Marti attended many schools and graduated from Taylorville High School in Taylorville, Illinois in 1978. She went on to attend Illinois State University and graduated in 1984 with a degree in art having won several awards for her artwork. On June 23, 1984 she married Andrew (Andy) Seidler and was blessed with three children: Davin, Sean, and Alyssa (Marvel). These children gave Marti six grandchildren: Justin, Jayden, Tatum, Jax, Ziggie, and Ezra. Marti later married John Collins in Taylorville, Illinois. John preceded her in death in 2024. Marti was a stay-at-home mom for the most part of her life but did enjoy retail when she did work. Her last employer before retiring was Meijer retail stores in Springfield, Illinois. After retiring in September 2025, she moved to Spearfish, SD to be closer to her sisters.

Marti was a big-hearted, opinionated, feisty, but generous person who was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. She was an avid animal lover and loved doting on her two cats, Lily and Scarlett. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Northern Hills Quilters Guild. She also enjoyed watching movies on DVD. She enjoyed puttering around with her houseplants. She was baptized into Christ on March 10, 1974 at the Pana Church of Christ in Pana, Illinois and was a member of the Northern Hills Church of Christ in Spearfish, SD.

Surviving Marti are three sisters: Janetta Fran Clemons, Catherine Ann Lessly both of Spearfish, and Rebecca Sue Lewis of Blackhawk, and nine nieces and nephews, along with multiple cousins.

A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, November 4th at 4:30pm at the Northern Hills Church of Christ in Spearfish with a meal following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local pet shelter or the Northern Hills Church of Christ.
