Marjorie "Margie" J. Wilkins, 90 of Spearfish, SD passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care.
Margie was born August 13, 1920 to Nick and Ida (Raber) Stetter on the homestead north of Belle Fourche. She was the eighth child of twelve children born to Nick and Ida.
Margie married John "Tino" Marchiando in 1940. During her early adulthood she was a cook for many different cafes and dinner clubs in Lead and Spearfish, SD and Beulah, WY. On December 22, 1956 Margie and Tino opened Margie's Dinner Club on West Highway 14 in Spearfish. The dinner club was noted for its relish trays, steaks and smorgasbords on Passion Play nights during the summer. In 1963 the business was sold to the Lyle Ainsworth Family. Presently the building is Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant. After she sold the dinner club she lived in Rapid City, SD, Wilmur, MN and Billings, MT. On February 15, 1974 she married Harry J. Wilkins. Harry worked for Burlington Northern which took them from Billings to Casper, WY, St. Paul, MN and Springfield, MO. After Harry retired in 1984 they moved back to Billings to be close to family and friends. In May 2006 they moved to Spearfish.
Margie is survived by her sons, Nick (Karen) Marchiando of Spearfish and Darrell Marchiando of Belle Fourche, SD, step-daughter, Peggy (David) Moon and step-son Cal (Tammy) Wilkins both of Billings, MT, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Beverly Larson of Billings, MT, one brother, Walt Stetter of Belle Fourche, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Wilkins, son, Larry Marchiando, parents, Nick and Ida Stetter, three brothers and six sisters.
Graveside memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, South Dakota.
