Marjorie "Marge" Linklater, 74 Hulett, WY passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Crook County Memorial Nursing Home in Sundance.

Marge was born August 14, 1936 to Ted and Lois (McAllister) Thorne near Sunny Divide in Crook County. She was the oldest of three children. Marge attended country school on Lytle Creek until the 8th grade. She went 3 years of high school in Sundance then transferred to Hulett High School for her senior year where she graduated in 1954.

On June 2, 1954 she married the love of her life, Art (Sonny) Linklater, in Spearfish, SD. The couple have owned and operated the Sourdough Ranch north of Hulett for the past 57 years.

Marge love to read and was an amazing writer. She created several family scrapbooks with original writings that would bring tears to your eyes. For years she kept a diary about life on the ranch and all the highlights of each day. She was the go to person when we couldn't remember how many cows were put in a particular pasture or a "remember when" she looked out the kitchen window only to see the milk cow that the girls saddled hanging over the Dutch barn door.

There is an old adage: a person is blessed if you get one good dog, one good horse and a good spouse in a lifetime. Marge was blessed with a good dog, "Tater", an exceptional horse, "Spook" and a wonderful husband, "Sonny". Marge had the drive and passion to always do what was needed on the ranch, no matter how many hours it took.

Playing pitch, going to Deadwood occasionally, gardening, flower arranging, watching PBR and boxing on television were things that she liked to do in between being a Mom and a wife. Marge took great joy in being a lifelong partner with Sonny. They took several hunting and fishing trips to the Big Horns and Jackson Hole, went to Alaska, Canada, PBR and NFR Finals in Las Vegas. Marge was dedicated to her 4 girls. No matter how many miles she drove for her girls, she was their biggest fan. This dedication was carried on to each of her grand children. She loved to dance and taught each of her girls how to jitterbug. She seemed to have a sixth sense when it came to knowing when any of her girls would get home past curfew!!! Walking through the house there is a theme of family everywhere. Family was everything to Marge and she will always be everything to her family.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Linda (Casey) Hunter of Hulett, Carla Snook of Hulett, Janet Thompson of Brighton, CO, Dana (Kenny) Ingalls of Lexington, NE, one brother, Bill (Darlene) Thorne of Lytle Creek, one sister, Barbara (Teddy) Thomas of Moorcroft, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. She is preceded in death by father, Ted Thorne, mother, Lois Thorne and a great granddaughter, Morgan McNamee.
