Obituary

Marjorie Linander, 92 of Spearfish, passed away on September 1, 2013 at her home.

Marjorie was born to Joe and Ethel (Thompson) Giachino on November 26, 1920 in Sheridan, WY. Her family soon moved to Spearfish where she grew up and graduated from Spearfish High School. She received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Black Hills State University.

She married Charles Linander on June 4, 1942 in Spearfish. They lived a year in Dayton, OH. Marge returned to live in Spearfish when Charles served in the Marine Corps for 2 ½ years. Following his discharge, they lived in Omaha, NE, where Charles earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Creighton University and Marge taught 4th grade in the Omaha schools. The family returned to Spearfish, where they made their home since 1953, and Dr. Linander established a dental practice. Marjorie was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, the Spearfish Mother's Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was recently recognized for her 70 year membership in Queen City Chapter #89, Order of the Eastern Star. The Linander's enjoyed playing in a pinochle club for many years. Marjorie also owned and operated the LaMode Dress Shop for eight years.

As a devoted mother, she attended many school functions, especially when their son, Terry, was wrestling. As a devoted wife, she traveled with her husband to Masonic and Naja Shrine events, supporting him in his many offices. They were honored as parade marshals for the 2003 Swam Day Parade for BHSU. They also enjoyed traveling to Olympic competitions throughout the world.

Marjorie is survived by one son, Terry Linander, Midland, GA, one daughter, Sharon (Gary) Andersen of Spearfish; five grandchildren, Greg (Kelli) Linander, Phenix City, AL, Jason (Erin) Linander, Columbus, GA, Julie Linander, Pensacola, FL, Ryan Andersen and Kara Harmon/Todd Harmon all of Spearfish, and six great-grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband.

Visitation will be from, 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 5, at the United Church of Christ, 920 Main Street in Spearfish with burial following at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials have been established to benefit Hospice of the Northern Hills and the Spearfish Food Pantry.

Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapels and Crematory Service of Spearfish.
