Marjorie "Marge" (Stevenson) Koch, age 94, native of Moorcroft, Wyoming, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, in Belle Fourche, SD.
Marge was born December 17, 1913, in Moorcroft, the daughter of the late Edward C. "E.C." and Clara G. (Gilkison) Stevenson. Marge was a 1931 graduate of Moorcroft High School and later graduated from Black Hills Teachers' College (now Black Hills State University) in Spearfish, South Dakota, with a degree in elementary education.
Her marriage to Frank W. Koch took place in 1950, in Dillon, Montana. The couple made their home in Moorcroft and later in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Mr. Koch died in 1992.
Marge taught school in Superior, Wyoming, Moorcroft, Wyoming, and Sunny Divide, Wyoming until her retirement in 1976. She was a member of the Moorcroft First Presbyterian Church, a member of Upton Chapter No. 32 Order of Eastern Star, Upton, member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an educational sorority, and former member of the Wyoming and National Education Associations.
In her earlier life she was an excellent horsewoman, having grown up on a large sheep ranch on the Belle Fourche River near Moorcroft. Some of her favorite memories involved riding her Shetland pony, Tom Thumb.
Marge was a very loving, caring person who stayed in touch with every generation of her family, making each individual feel special. And she was a perpetual mentor, tutoring children in her later years and passing on her insight to many family members. Marge will be remembered for her quick wit, her politeness, her memory for all of her family's birthdays, and her ability to have fun. She was one of a kind.
