Marion E. Geis, 95, of Spearfish, SD, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until 1:00pm with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm on Monday, September 29, 2008 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Pastor Peg Grzelkowski will be officiating and burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
Marion was born January 7, 1913 to Truman E. and Mertie E. (Crissman) Hubbell in Allendale, Michigan. She was the youngest of nine children. Marion graduated from high school in Coopersville, MI, in 1929 and from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, in 1933. She married Robert V. Geis on August 19, 1937 in Allendale. Marion taught school in the Michigan public school system from 1935 to 1973. After retirement they moved to Spearfish, SD.
Marion was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, the Spearfish Women's Club, VWF Auxiliary, Republican Women and Lookout Hospital Auxiliary. She was also a member of United Blood Services and coordinated the blood drive for 13 years.
Marion is survived by one daughter, Sammie McCullough of Spearfish, two grandchildren, Brenden McCullough of Kansas and Tawny Rae Reese of Gordon, NE, and their families which include 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Geis, her parents and her eight brothers and sisters.
