Marilyn was born June 16, 1947 in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, to Lee and Irene Willey of Hulett. She was raised on the family ranch on Black Tail Creek near Hulett, and remained a lifelong resident of Crook County. She graduated from Hulett High School in 1965. She went on to be a homemaker and mother to her five beloved children.
Chicken was well-known for serving and supporting others whether it was through work or through her caring spirit. Her ultimate joy and priority was the love for her family and especially, her ten grandchildren. Her genuine interest in others set her apart from all, and because of this she was able to create loving respectful relationships within moments of meeting her. She was "Mom" to everyone she knew, and treated everyone with the love and respect they all deserved, and asked for nothing in return.
Chicken was an amazing woman who gave her whole self and heart to all that she loved. Her selflessness, love for her family and giving heart will be dearly missed. She is survived by her four sons; Brian (Kayla and Brynlee) Griffis, Jeff (Tina, Jakob, and Brady), Coy (Hannah, Luke, and Emery), Kirk (Leigh, Peyton, Raegan, and Gus) McLaughlin, stepchildren; Steven McLaughlin, Rhonda (Elyssa Fuller) McLaughlin, and Tom (Frosti) Roby. Her mother; Irene Willey of Hulett, three brothers; Roger (Donna), Bill (Barb), and Howard (Sue) Willey, one sister; Marlys (Frank) Proctor and numerous nieces and nephews
She has joyfully been reunited in heaven with her sister Marshia Willey, husband David (Swede) McLaughlin, brothers Calvin and George Willey, niece Lisa (Willey) Gibbs, great-niece Jaidyn, great-nephew Ryder, and beloved daughter Brenda.
A memorial has been established at Sundance State Bank for Grandma's Angels.
