Margaret Sullivan, 85, of Spearfish, South Dakota, died September 23, 2015 at the David M. Dorsett Health Care Center, Spearfish.
Margaret was born November 11, 1929 in Deadwood, SD to Fred and Laura Morlan. She attended school in Lead, SD and graduated in 1947 from Lead High School. Margaret married the love of her life, Myron Sullivan, on September 28, 1947. They had three children, including Sharon Ann (deceased) and Myron II.
She attended Black Hills State Teachers College graduating in 1965 with a BA in Music and Elementary Education and later a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She taught music and kindergarten for 34 years with retirement in 1992. Margaret served her Lord for fifty years by playing the organ at the Lead United Methodist Church. Margaret was a member of numerous organizations, including United Methodist Women, Northern Hills Connections, Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and several Bible study groups.
She is survived by her son, Myron; brother, Marion "Rusty" (Leslie); sisters Beverly and Joyce (Carroll); grandchildren Tiffiany (Dustin), Jason (Katie), Tonya (Daniel), Amanda, Natalie (Matt); fourteen great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Jerry (Judy) Miller. We have all been blessed by her faith, caring ways, and her undying love of family, friends and children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her daughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to benefit Black Hills State University – "The Margaret Sullivan Performing Arts Scholarship" and Hospice of the Northern Hills.
Memorial Service will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Lead, SD. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
