Margaret Hotvedt, 93 of Spearfish, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Dorsett Regional Senior Care.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 on Monday, December 6, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spearfish. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Karen Matuska officiating. Inurnment will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established to Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Margaret N. Hotvedt was born Tyra Kristina Margaret Nyberg on September 20, 1917 in Rossland, British Columbia to Louis P. and Matilda (Johannson) Nyberg. As a child the family moved to Lead, SD where she grew up. She graduated from Lead High School in 1935 and from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Deadwood in 1939. Following nurses training she worked at Homestake Hospital for 2 years. She married Alfred C. Hotvedt on May 2, 1942 at Sturgis, SD. While Alfred was in the military, and she had the oppurtunity to work as an RN in various places around the country. After returning to SD in 1946, Margaret worked in Dr. Davidson's Lead office for 14 years and later at St. Joseph's in the Emergency Department from 1958-1984 when she retired. The moved to Spearfish in 1985. She also served on the Colorado Board of Nursing.
Margaret is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Lonnie and Leesa Haugland. She is preceeded in death by her parents and her husband Alfred.
